When organising the big day, it is advisable to compile a wedding diary. This is usually done by the Bride's mother to keep a record of what has been done and what needs to be arranged.
- Once the date has been set, the venue and wedding reception should be booked. This is sensible to do before looking for the Bride's gown so that the time scale for ordering and altering the dress co-insides with the wedding date. The Bridesmaids/maid of honour and Bestman should be chosen and stationary designs for invitations ordered. A guest list and gift list should then be compiled, as should all the outfits including Bridesmaids, mens suits, Mother of the Bride outfit and going away outfit.
- Flowers for the receptions and the ceremony should be arranged alongside flowers for the Bridesmaids and Bride. Corsages and button holes could also be decided.
- A photographer and videographer could be booked, as well as the wedding cake and transport. Any further entertainment such as music, magicians and a caricaturist can also be organised.
- Finally the honeymoon should be booked and the gift list updated as the gifts are received.
